Lee Kernaghan plays the Gold Coast
Gold Coast local Lee Kernaghan has been awarded more Golden Guitars and ARIA Awards than you can poke a stick at, and he is more relevant today than ever before. He continues to go from strength to strength and his latest album Backroad Nation has just topped the ARIA charts at #1 once again. Whilst he has never performed at Groundwater before, he got up on stage with James Blundell last year as a guest to close out the festival and announce that he would be back this year. “I’m super excited to be bringing my national tour to Groundwater festival,” said Kernaghan. “It’s an incredible vibe on stage and out on the street and I can’t wait to be a part of this awesome festival in 2019.”
Hailing from the hills of West Virginia is the Davisson Brothers Band, who will wow Groundwater audiences with their authentic and passionate country-rock. The four-piece band hugely impressed Australian fans last year and Groundwater is thrilled to include them in their 2019 line-up. With thousands of shows under their belt, the Davisson Brothers Band’s incredible, high energy shows have found a new home away home in Australia.
Returning to Groundwater after performing at the festival in 2015 is Beccy Cole who this year won ‘Female Artist of the Year’ at the Golden Guitar Awards, taking her number of Golden Guitar wins to eleven. Beccy has been delighting Australian music fans for over 25 years and continued to impress them with her last album Lioness which was 100 per cent produced by females. With her husky tones and distinct sense of humour, it comes as no surprise that Beccy has three gold-certified releases and more than a dozen #1 Australian country singles.
Joining the party is The Wolfe Brothers who were the big winners at the 2019 Golden Guitars, breaking previous records and taking home four awards from their five nominations. Currently on tour with Lee Kernaghan, they are a force to be reckoned with.
Far From Folsom songs of Johnny Cash featuring Tex Perkins and the Tennessee Four with Rachael Tidd is an unmissable act that will perform at Groundwater this year. Best-known for fronting The Cruel Sea, Beasts of Bourbon, Tex, Don & Charlie and The Dark Horses, Tex Perkins will provide a fast-paced, turbo-charged incarnation of Johnny Cash’s famous prison performances. His humour, humanity and grit builds bridges between music genres, between prisoners, preachers and presidents, and has earned him the love and loyalty of generations of fans.
