The Honey Sliders are the retro-inspired blues/boogie project for three-time ARIA Award-nominated singer-songwriter Danny Widdicombe.
Danny has released ten full-length albums, as a solo artist, with his band The Wilson Pickers and in collaboration with the jazz trio Trichotomy and pianist Ant Aggs. Along the way, Danny has won both the prestigious GW McLennan Memorial Fellowship as well as a Qld Music Award and has toured the world playing his music. The Honey Sliders are a rock, soul, country, blues act (think Little Feat, Ry Cooder and Allman Brothers) that comprises the cream of Brisbane’s musicians. Dan Mansfield (You Am I, The Gin Club), Chris Bosley (Resin Dogs) and Ben Carstens (Mexico City).
The Honey Sliders have become renowned for their annual concept shows covering their favourite albums. Each year The Honey Sliders sell out venues with their respectful and mind-blowingly accurate recreations of blues, soul, country, and rock n roll masterpieces. Each member of the honey sliders has toured the world with their music and together they have over 80 years’ experience on some of the biggest stages anywhere. Their love of music from the golden age of rock n roll records from 1965 – 1975 is a huge influence on their sound. Danny just celebrated his 25th anniversary of living with leukaemia and he’s not wasting any time or taking his music for granted.
Now it’s time for the Honey Sliders to take over the stage at Groundwater CMF 12-14 November 2021.
