Sue Ray is an Australian Indigenous multi-award-winning singer/songwriter that captivates audiences with her original brand of country/blues and roots music, smoky rich voice and high energy performances.
Often compared to artists like Bonnie Raitt, Chris Stapleton and Lucinda Williams, Sue’s sound crosses genres allowing her to appeal to a wide audience demographic. Over the years, Sue has accrued awards and nominations, from Most Promising New Talent in the 2013 Deadly awards to Female Artist Of The Year in the QLD Music Awards. In 2012, ‘Red Roses’ was nominated for Country Album Of The Year in the AIR Independent Music Awards, and later her title track ‘Lover Evermore’ received the award for Best Indigenous Track in the QMusic Awards. Most recently, in 2018 Sue won the World/Folk category in the QMusic awards for her track ‘Junior Was His Name’. She’s performed at many festivals including The Gympie Muster, Americana Music Conference, Nashville TN, International Film Festival, Nashville TN, Tamworth CMF, AWME World Music Conference, Melbourne and we now welcome her to the Groundwater CMF 12-14 November 2021.
