Groundwater Country Music Festival Announces 2020 Lineup.

Last year Spotify reported Australia as the third-largest country music territory after the US & Canada and the world’s fastest-growing country market, and Groundwater Country Music Festival is testament to this. As one of Australia’s most loved country music festivals, it just keeps getting bigger!  Boom!

If you want to escape the winter and party in Broadbeach, QLD with the superstars of the Australian country music scene, head to Groundwater Country Music Festival this July (24-26, 2020).  Fly or drive and stay in the heart of Broadbeach with the festival right on your doorstep! There are so many sophisticated accommodation options in the precinct from five-star hotels to self-contained apartments, satisfying all needs.

With incredible beaches and spectacular dining to suit all budgets and tastes, this is the ideal event to kick off your Gold Coast holiday in the best way possible.

“There’s something special about having a music event propped up against the beach that just makes it a celebration,” said Festival Director Mark Duckworth. “From artists to fans, everyone is in a great mood and ready to get their party on.”

Groundwater is not one to shy away from the spotlight and was recently awarded the top gong in the ‘Festivals and Events’ category at the 2019 Queensland Tourism Awards. The free Gold Coast festival will be hotter than its sun-kissed weather this year with both young rising stars and legendary country artists set to take the stage.

“Another stunning line up for Groundwater,” said Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate. “This festival goes from strength to strength every year and it’s no wonder the very best talent in Australian country music keep coming back.”

Kasey Returns!

This year, patrons will be lucky enough to see the queen of country, KASEY CHAMBERS, perform. The genre-defying singer-songwriter has won 13 ARIA Music Awards, 10 APRA Music Awards, and became the youngest female ever to be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2018. Her incredible storytelling and intriguing blend of folk, country, blues, and rock continues to impress fans around the world.

“I’m so excited to return to Groundwater this July! We absolutely loved playing to so many enthusiastic music fans at such a great festival last time.” said Chambers. “It’ll be so much fun and is always such a massive party atmosphere.”

Shannon Noll is in the house.

Joining Kasey Chambers is Australian music star and ultimate party guy SHANNON NOLL who rose to fame as the first runner-up of the first Australian Idol in 2003, capturing the hearts of music fans around the world with his raw talent. He is one of the most recognisable Australian musicians with five top 10 albums, 17 platinum and three gold accreditations, and a reputation as the only Australian male artist in national chart history to have achieved ten consecutive top 10 singles.

Adding to the homegrown talent is Australia’s favourite country duo, the SUNNY COWGIRLS who entrance audiences with their mesmerising harmonies and irresistible celebrations of mateship, hard work, and life and love in the Australian bush. The nine-time Golden Guitar nominees have long been the authentic voice of rural Australia and their latest album Here We Go debuted #1 on the iTunes Country Albums Chart.

The diverse line-up also features well-respected and much-loved artist GINA JEFFREYS who burst onto the Australian country music scene almost 30 years ago after winning the 1991 Star Maker. Jeffreys went on to regularly appear on hit TV shows like Hey Hey it’s Saturday and The Midday Show, tour Australia with music greats including Lee Kernaghan, Kenny Rogers, and Guy Sebastian, and even open for Johnny Cash. This multi-award-winning artist is a trailblazer in country music and was Australia’s first ever female country artist to sell platinum albums and sell-out shows. We welcome Gina to her first Groundwater!

Since winning ‘New Talent of the Year’ at the 2018 Golden Guitar Awards, BRAD BUTCHER has continued to rise in popularity, recently winning ‘Alt-Country Album of the Year’ at the 2020 Golden Guitar Awards. His fan base continues to grow due to his inspirational storytelling, distinctive voice, and fascinating blend of country, folk, and blues.

Included in this diverse line-up are live favourites and triple ARIA awardwinners, THE AUDREYS, who entertain audiences with their heartfelt music and hilarious anecdotes. Their magical blend of blues/roots music has been included in many Australian films and television shows, they’ve written music for theatre, graced almost every major festival in Australia, and rocked festivals and clubs in Europe and North America!
